How to utilize technology in early childhood education in a pedagogically meaningful way? How to observe technology in childrens’ everyday surroundings? How to experiment and build together with children using technology?
The making with technology professional development training offers early childhood educators with an opportunity to experiment with and receive guidance in utilizing various technologies as part of the maker activities in early childhood centers. During the training early childhood educators plan, execute and assess a maker technology project as part of their own work.
The target group
The making with technology professional development training is targeted at early childhood educators. The training consists of independent online studies (distance learning), local two day face-to-face sessions organized in 11 cities around Finland, and of carrying out a project in respective early childhood centers.
The two day local training sessions are organized in Espoo, Helsinki, Turku, Tampere, Kuopio, Lappeenranta, Larsmo, Lohja, Kontiolahti, Oulu and Rovaniemi.

Part 1: Technology and maker-culture in early childhood education

Part 2: Try it and make it!
- Two day local training 6.-7.2.2020
Part 3: Realizing plans
- Doing a project in your own workplace in spring 2020
Part 4: Project assessment
